Well the offseason is here, and the idea is that rather than sit around and do nothing, it’d probably be a good idea if I took it upon myself to learn some things about my field. I could improve in every aspect, but a few angles I’m specifically pursuing are 3D motion graphics (like above), the science behind how a video camera works, and lighting techniques. This should all keep my busy for at least until February or so, and hopefully will make me better what I do.
This is a sample from one of my first real serious forays into 3D motion graphics. My co-worker, Ryan, is hoping to start a company to handle some of his free-lance work, and he was hoping I could design him a logo. I’ve never really done anything like this before, so I decided to watch some tutorials on logo design, and then I got to work. I designed the vectors of this model in Illustrator first, and then brought it into the 3D program I’ve been using – Cinema 4D. Overall this took me about 2 hours to make, but I was happy with it. I still have a lot to learn, but this stuff is really kinda fun.
